If it is necessary to wash your kapok product, it is important that you follow the washing and drying instructions given here.
Washing instructions:
- Always wash the product separately and only at 40 degrees to protect the kapok fibers.
- Choose a short wash cycle and avoid additional rinsing or soaking, as this can damage the kapok fibers.
- Select a wash program with extra spin cycles or perform an additional spin cycle after washing (preferably 1200 revolutions) to remove as much water as possible before drying.
- Use a gentle detergent without bleach or enzymes. Do not use fabric softener.
Instructions for drying
-
The product must be dried immediately after washing. Kapok fibers clump together when wet, but become airy again when dried according to the instructions. Please note that it takes some time for the kapok fibers to dry completely.
You should expect it to take up to 4 hours in the dryer. - Dry separately in the dryer.
- Select a medium temperature program and dry for approximately 30 minutes at a time, then check the product. If the fibers continue to clump, continue the drying process in the tumble dryer. Shake the product to redistribute the fibers.
- If the product still feels slightly damp, remove it from the tumble dryer and allow the remaining moisture to escape by placing it upright in a warm place – for example, on a clothes drying rack in a room with underfloor heating.
- It is advantageous to use wool dryer balls in the tumble dryer, as these help to distribute the kapok fibers and thus prevent clumping. Do not use tennis balls!
